Chipo brings more than 10 years of critical and transformative thinking experience across diverse industries in several countries in Africa. Along with a passion for continuous improvement and a belief that people inherently hold solutions to their challenges, Chipo has dedicated most of her work life to empower public sector health management teams. Chipo also occasionally teaches in executive programs offered at the Graduate School of Business, UCT.
Currently the Chief Operating Officer at Spark Health Africa, Chipo drives the operationalisation of Spark Health Africa’s strategy. This entails management of internal operations for efficiency; cashflow management for maximum return on funder resources as well as relationship management of new and existing stakeholders to ensure flow of business. Chipo joined Spark Health Africa in 2013 as a Systems Improvement Advisor and later Director of Programs. She has successfully led program implementation in South Africa, Malawi, Kenya and Zimbabwe. Additionally, Chipo manages relationships with current funders.
Prior to Spark Health Africa, Chipo was driving the journey towards excellent processes across the Maersk Line offices in Africa as the Regional Process Excellence Partner. In her role, she introduced lean thinking for operations improvement across Maersk offices and also mentored teams on improvement projects using lean thinking and six sigma.
Chipo has also served in the capacity of Research Associate with the Lean Institute Africa (Graduate School of Business, UCT) where she spearheaded projects at provincial public hospitals in South Africa using lean thinking that resulted in reduced patient turnaround times in the Out Patients Department.
Chipo has also been involved in several consulting projects, including a USAID funded project to improve clinical efficiency in hospitals in Malawi, working closely with the second largest healthcare provider in the country. In the private sector, She has worked with small to medium scale organisations in the manufacturing sector to improve productivity.
Chipo holds a Masters in Applied Sciences from the University of Cape Town, an Honors in Biochemistry from the University of Zimbabwe and is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
