Turkana, Mombasa, and Homa Bay, Kenya (2016-2018)

Community Dialogue on safe (institutional and home) delivery, Mombasa County
In Kenya we worked with three county health management teams from Turkana, Mombasa, and Homa Bay counties. Within each county we worked with an additional 3 sub-county teams. The main object of the partnership was to support the counties to implement combination HIV prevention interventions (aptly called COMBO).
On the whole, we succeeded in introducing a new way of thinking, a different approach to public health, that focused on teams making use of assets at their disposal. A non-trivial impact of the culture change interventions manifested in the language used by the public health management teams we interacted with. The term “sparked” became synonymous with describing how leaders had been instantaneously motivated to change their status quo.
