Kwazulu-Natal Province, South Africa (2016-2018)

  • Transformative leadership and culture change program

  • 95 workshop attendees (2-day senior leadership workshop, 5-day health management team workshop)

  • 24 months of thought partnership during the on-the-job mentoring across 8 health management teams

  • Key focus areas: 90-90-90 Treatment Target to help end the AIDS epidemic

In KwaZulu-Natal we worked with 8 district health management teams. The focus of the Transformative Leadership and Culture Change Program was to support the Provincial Department of Health meet the targets of having 90% of all people living with HIV know their status, 90% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive sustained antiretroviral therapy, and 0% of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy will have viral suppression.

Throughout the 24-month thought-partnership mentorship period, we worked with the district health management teams and the sub-district teams to create a culture of ownership over health results, helping teams discover innovative solutions to problems, and increasing capacity to use data for root cause analysis and better decision-making.
